Year of Intimacy

THE VINE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT 2024

Opening Message from Senior Pastor

At the beginning of this year, I shared with you a dream that God had given me towards the end of 2023 – of Jesus wanting to pull up an armchair next to each one of us and to draw us into deeper intimacy with him. This led us on a journey of intimacy throughout the year that took on a variety of expressions across our church body, from the 21-day corporate fast, our Converse prayer day, and community spiritual retreats, to pulpit teachings, offsites, and individual growth and development. Our vision to Grow Big People as expressed through the River Model has taken on a beautiful diversity this year, as many of us have invested considerable time over the past 12 months in our relationship with Jesus. I sense that as a church body, we emerge out of 2024 more mature, more healed, and more prepared for all that is to come.

Our Yuen Long church plant has continued to thrive under the leadership of Tim and Ivan, and it is a joy to see us now operating as one church across two locations. Our hope is to continue to see further outreach to local communities in the area, and the spread of the gospel through Alpha and multi-generational ministry across the board.

On a personal note, 2024 saw me spend four months on Sabbatical, which was a wonderful time of needed connection with my family, with Jesus, and with myself. After weeks of rest, restoration, and inspiration, I returned to the Vine in mid-November to a church that had continued to grow and flourish beautifully in my absence. I want to give a huge thank you to our leadership team of Elders and Pastors, as well as our many volunteers, who served wholeheartedly in my absence and moved the church forward with great courage and skill. It is a real privilege to walk alongside such an amazing family of servant-hearted leaders.

As we move into 2025, I feel a real passion within me for this amazing city of Hong Kong that we all love. The years ahead are critical for our city, and we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to do all we can to bring the gospel of hope and life to so many who desperately need it. My prayer is that our year of intimacy with Christ in 2024 will lead to a year of action through the Holy Spirit in 2025. I can’t wait to see what God’s about to do!

Message from Chairman of the Elders Board
If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” - John 15:5b

The main theme for 2024 was that of intimacy with Jesus. I gather that we all enjoy being ‘immersed’ in Christ, as the presence of God is often ‘tangibly’ experienced at The Vine Church while we worship together. Yet Christ’s mandate is that we bear much fruit, fruit that includes obeying His commands, experiencing His love and joy, and prayerfully committing our lives to Him.

We are most thankful that we emerged strong from COVID, to see our congregation numbers grow, and our finances remain strong. Various ministries continue to flourish as reflected by the ‘pain’ of space issues we face, and the Yuen Long church plant is growing at a phenomenal rate, which we celebrate.  However, as individuals as well as a corporate body, it is timely to prepare ourselves for the next season, putting faith into action.  The Israelites were released from their bondage to have the freedom to worship YHWH upon entering into the promised land to flourish, but they were also to be a light for the nations.

As much as we have experienced transformation in our own lives while we grow deeply rooted in Christ, the deep rootedness should also propel us to bear fruit in season. I dare to believe that The Vine Church is entering into a new season of outward, missional expression that looks like reaching out, touching lives, and transforming our surroundings. The ‘river’ does not stop with having a church plant, nor with a mere growth of congregational numbers. As the Chinese saying goes “a thousand-mile journey starts with moving the first step upfront”. We have made some small steps, and it is time that we not only dream big, but that we also go forth to reach out to others who have yet to know Christ.

Church Plant Update: The Vine Yuen Long

In 2023, The Vine Church Yuen Long (The Vine YL) soft launched with a gathering of approximately 50 adults and 15 children. On October 1, 2023, it was officially launched to the public. By the last quarter of that year, the average attendance across the Cantonese and English services grew to 166 adults and 31 children. In 2024, at the time of writing, there has been an encouraging rise in attendance to 249 adults and 57 children in the past month. In August, a Youth Group was launched that is averaging 16 youth in attendance.

The year 2024 has seen The Vine YL steering its efforts towards serving the community and sharing the gospel. This took place both in Sunday services, and through a bi-annual Cantonese and English Alpha that hosted 94 Cantonese and 18 English participants. We also celebrated the baptisms of 11 members! Moreover, the church facilitated three parenting workshops in both Cantonese and English, aimed at aiding parents in nurturing their children's well-being. The workshops had an average of 35 adults per workshop.

Serving the city has been a core focus for The Vine YL in 2024. Partnering with Branches of Hope (BOH), the church conducted a "Healthy Meals on a Budget Course" for ten refugee and asylum seeker families who are part of our Yuen Long community. Additionally, we collaborated with Young Lives by offering space for programs that support teen mums and their children.

A strategic alliance with Great Wall Education Foundation saw volunteers serving primary 5 students as mentors through the “Life Mentor Programme,” at the Chinese YMCA Primary School in Tin Shui Wai.  Most notably, we forged an official mission partnership with YWAM Shanti, an entity in Yuen Long dedicated to serving ethnic minorities and their families. Financial support and active volunteering from The Vine YL members have significantly contributed to initiatives like the Back-to-School Drive, tutoring, and youth programmes. These endeavours epitomise the church's commitment to uplifting the Hong Kong community.

God has been faithful to us as a church community throughout this journey of church planting.

Prayer

The discipline of prayer is to intimacy as oxygen is to breathing – an essential component. It only follows then, that in a year where we have been called to respond to God’s invitation to a deeper intimacy, we would find ourselves drawn into a heightened communal practice of this discipline. As we have focused on many different expressions and forms of prayer, we have seen God heal, comfort, strengthen, convict, and very simply dwell among us in special and holy ways. May we continue to be a church rooted in prayer.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face ... then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14-15.

We began the year 2024 with a night of prayer and worship, journeying through Psalm 63. Our purpose was to spend unhurried time with the Lord as the body of Christ and over 600 people from our congregation joined. We were moved by the expressed hunger of God’s people for His presence and as we prayed, the faithful presence of God encountered us and He realigned, strengthened, and anchored us afresh.

In March we held Converse, in place of a regular Sunday service, and devoted the day to various expressions of prayer. From immersive stations that brought us into the stormy seas with Jesus and His disciples, to the heart-wrenching forgiveness stations that laid our hearts bare before God, the sense of solemn encounters with God was evident throughout the day, with many testimonies of God’s tangible presence shared.

Throughout the year, we have continued with our churchwide monthly prayer evenings. These nights have been spent interceding for our youth with the city's youth workers, walking around Wan Chai praying for our city and the different sectors of Hong Kong, and praying for one another in small groups. We witnessed the Holy Spirit touching individual lives as we invited Jesus’ presence and light to infiltrate areas of emotional and physical pain.

Many different expressions of prayer have continued across communities and ministries, deepening our intimacy with Christ, the fellowship of the Spirit, and fostering a greater unity among our people as we regularly and corporately seek His face.

Discipleship

Christian discipleship is the process of learning to follow and love Jesus Christ, with the effect of our continuous transformation to be Christ-like in our thoughts, words, and actions. Our vision at The Vine Church is to Grow Big People; it is intentional discipleship and throughout 2024 this happened in different ways which included bible and book studies under the umbrella of Manna and Tree of Life, as well as courses on inner healing and restoration, and all within community.

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” - Galatians 3:26-27

The phrase ‘baptised into Christ’ signifies the newfound intimacy and relationship one gains access to in baptism. Through baptism, Christians are brought into union with Christ and with each other.  In 2024, 60 brothers and sisters were baptised over the 3 baptism ceremonies we held.

The following testimony is from Serene, a Vine Church member, baptised in October 2024.

“This year, I have felt more certain and at peace with my faith and relationship with God. I have had an increased desire to know God through Scripture. Instead of feeling the obligation to be a “good Christian”, I found myself more naturally intentional about being more like Him. Whenever I’ve publicly

shared about God’s goodness and the reality that I am a Christian, I’ve felt proud and joyful. With this heart, I feel ready to devote myself as a Christian, baptised and reborn, committed to living my life for Him. God has worked in my life in such mysterious ways; at times I would reckon that life was not going in the right direction, and yet as I waited on Him, His plans unfolded and turned out just the way He intended.

Who would have thought that I would work as a clinical psychologist, or find my faith in God in Australia?  Although challenging and stressful, I have found so much meaning in my job as a children’s clinical psychologist, and I am so grateful that God has chosen to work His miracles through me for these people. I’m also grateful for the angels God has surrounded me with in my family, partner, and brothers and sisters in Christ that I’ve met through my journey. I’m grateful for who I am now which has been shaped by God through the life experiences He brought me through, and I just can’t wait to see what God has in store for me and my family in the future.”

Evangelism

At The Vine Church, our heart is to see more and more people come to know Jesus Christ, and there are different ways that we create spaces and opportunities to do that.  Whether it is through formal events like Alpha, or smaller informal conversations on our streets and in our neighbourhoods, we want Jesus to be known.  New initiatives this year have included expanding our Mandarin outreach to reach professionals and students who are new to Hong Kong.  Seeing our city transformed through lives saved remains our focus for 2024 and beyond.

Not only has God been moving powerfully in the lives of many guests, stirring their hearts to draw close to Him and put their faith and trust in Him, God has been moving just as powerfully in our serving teams as well. A key part of the success of Alpha is the relational connection with guests, which calls for members of our congregation to serve our guests in different areas: in small groups to connect with them and facilitate discussion, on production, in hospitality serving food and drinks, and this year, we even started catering our meals in-house. We have had very large serving teams and often, the loudest roars of laughter are heard in the kitchen from the hospitality team as they are washing up after dinner.

The following testimony is from Alpha hospitality volunteer Andre Nio.

“This is my second time serving in Alpha as a hospitality volunteer. Apart from the fact that I have this opportunity to serve, I thoroughly love every minute of it because I come from a hospitality background, and this is something that is within my comfort zone. It is also great because I get to serve alongside my wife, which helps to strengthen the bond of our relationship. Furthermore, we get to meet like-minded people, forging friendships in the process.

I think that through serving, God is teaching me to love on other people and to serve with humility. We serve the participants in the hope that they can see God’s reflection and heart through our actions, and that the testimony of God’s goodness in our lives will encourage them to come to Christ. As we serve throughout the sessions, we can feel God’s presence among us – even when I am tired, I feel this extraordinary strength while serving, that leads me to experience an inexplicable sense of joy. Serving in Alpha has been rewarding, in that it has brought me closer to God & closer to my wife, and I believe that God sees our hearts in our willingness to serve and rewards us with His joy, grace & peace.”

Notably, this year marks the 30th Anniversary of Alpha being run in Hong Kong. To celebrate, 7 churches and one workplace Alpha got together in November to run a joint Alpha Day, which is when we look at the topic of the Holy Spirit. Each church took ownership of a different element of the Alpha Day, and over 300 participants (guests and volunteers) joined the day, which was run in three languages – English, Cantonese and Mandarin. As leaders from each church intentionally honoured each other throughout the planning process, there was a beautiful sense of unity and community on that day. We know that at least 16 guests committed their lives to Christ that day. It is also significant that over 56% of participants recorded that they experienced community more after being a part of Alpha, 0ver 45% highlighted they were praying more, their faith was strengthened and they were deepening their relationship with Jesus.

FILCOM STREET EVANGELISM

FILCOM, our Filipina community, ran Tagalog Alpha this year, and as part of their efforts to extend the love of Christ and to invite guests to Alpha, they ventured out to the streets of Wan Chai to evangelise. It was their first attempt at street evangelism, and as they went out in pairs on a heavily rainy day, they demonstrated tremendous courage and humility in approaching strangers to engage in conversation. Naturally, some were not receptive, and FILCOM were discouraged and felt rejected, yet they grasped a glimpse of God’s heart as several said they saw their old selves in people’s cold responses. Two members commented that they realised they too had previously rejected God in the same way. So they gave praise and thanks that God had never left them but had continued to pursue them and be faithful to them.

Cris described how this impacted her: “After I committed to Jesus, when I saw my cousin who had been a Christian a long time, I wanted to ask them “why didn’t you tell me about Jesus earlier?!” This gave her great motivation to continue to learn and grow in street evangelism, so that she would be able to tell more people about Jesus.

April and Araceli met one lady who had just arrived to Hong Kong, having left behind her husband and two young children in the Philippines. She was adjusting to life in HK and her new employment. As the pair noticed she was downcast, they offered to pray for comfort and she accepted. They explained that they were Christians, asked if this lady had a personal relationship with Jesus, which she did not, and they asked if she would like to pray to accept Jesus. She said yes! They led her in a prayer of commitment, on the streets of Wan Chai, and invited her to join Alpha.

Going forward, FILCOM plans to engage in street evangelism regularly, trusting that even though some people reject them and God, it is ultimately God who moves people’s hearts.

NEIGHBOURHOOD CONVERSATIONS TESTIMONY

The Vine Church continues to show love and care through outreach into our local community and in 2024, we had the privilege of demonstrating Christ’s love in various ways, which included detainee visits, elderly care, and outreach events in the Wan Chai area.

Detainee visits were a response to requests from immigration detainees who are asylum seekers in Hong Kong. 40 detainees were visited regularly, most of whom appreciated prayers and encouragement from scriptures, regardless of their religion.

The following testimony is from Mira (pseudonym), a detainee at Tai Tam Gap Detention Centre.

“I understand that it is hard to do volunteer work. You people are very patient and kind. I have no visitors and love every time our chat more than anything. I pray for all your volunteers’ work”

In 2024 due to the increase in our volunteers, we were able to visit two elderly homes in Wan Chai, celebrating birthdays and sharing the love of Christ with the seniors.

The following testimony is from Alice Wong, a new believer and Vine Church member.

“When I see the smiling faces expressing joy and the active participation of the elderly, it is remarkable to me. Joy can be simple. Joy does not come from material possessions, but the genuine interaction and care between humans. Thank God and Jesus that opened my eyes, ears, and heart to feel the community.”

Bernard joined Neighbourhood Conversations in 2023, and since then his perspective on issues affecting migrant workers changed from apathy, to curiosity, to action. It prompted him to make career moves to raise awareness on fair employment for domestic workers and eventually to support church and community development to combat poverty globally.

Through all of these expressions, we give thanks to God who is teaching us that being close to Him looks like caring for those around us.

MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL MANDARIN OUTREACH

Hong Kong is a multicultural society, but in recent years, it has faced significant divisions. As an international church with English-speaking attendees, Cantonese-speaking locals, and a Mandarin ministry, The Vine Church is well-suited to model what God’s love looks like in this city, and one new initiative was the Mid-Autumn Festival Mandarin Evangelism Event held at The Vine Centre on September 13th. As a celebration of family, the Mid-Autumn Festival offered the perfect opportunity for the church to share God’s love with Mandarin speakers and welcome them into His home. In a remarkable display of unity, 55 volunteers, speaking Cantonese, English, and Mandarin, came together to serve 120 adults and 10 children.

The evening was filled with love and joy.  Each guest received a thoughtfully prepared gift, and over 40 dishes were lovingly made by the food team, with 10 volunteers working from morning until evening. The atmosphere was filled with laughter from games, and hearts were lifted by worship songs. Testimonies from three speakers, blending humour and profound reflection, touched many. One guest shared that she felt a deep sense of belonging, as if she had "returned home." Another, usually part of the English-speaking group, expressed how worshiping in her mother tongue transformed her faith experience. A volunteer remarked that participating in the event opened her heart, sparking a desire to serve the Mandarin community further. During the altar call, four new friends accepted Christ. 23 participants signed up for a follow-up pizza night, and 13 attendees joined the church-wide Alpha in October.

The Mandarin Community witnessed God's abundant provision and His hand at work. This has deepened their intimacy with God and brought about many personal transformations. With a heart for outreach and service, the Mandarin Community will continue responding to God's call—building bridges and fulfilling the vision of unity in Christ while sharing the Gospel with Mandarin speakers.

Community

At The Vine Church, we believe that being in community with other believers is important, and that having different expressions of community encourages people to grow in their faith, as they get connected and feel part of the wider family of The Vine Church. Community happens through serving together in different ministries like K4C, through larger gatherings like 180 our young adult's community, and through smaller community groups which gather all across the city.

The following testimony is from CG Leaders Howard and Denise Chan.

“We accepted Ps Jess’ invitation to start a new CG last summer, in a ‘leap of love’, after hearing the need for more community groups. As we prayed for the group yet to come, we reflected in gratitude on how others had helped us to get connected at the Vine, and decided that “CONNECT” would be the theme for MSG (“Monday Small Group”). We hoped that Viners, especially those who are new-in-town, would be connected with God and with each other through the group. In September 2023, MSG was formed when a group of unconnected individuals chose to sit down at our circle during the CG Taster Night.

It takes time to build relationships, but through our time together, we have brought one another closer to God. Besides regular group meetings where we learn from the Bible and pray together, MSG meets up for social activities and city explorations. We cultivate Christian hospitality by giving our time to one another, be it home cleaning for a sick member, dealing with realtors, or serving on the Sunday Welcome Team once a month. We share good times together and we intercede for one another in trying times. On special occasions, this walk extends to overseas communities, as an MSGer reflected, “The support from MSG was especially invaluable during the difficult time when my brother had his car accident. Their prayers, follow ups, and kind words were a tremendous source of comfort and strength for me and my family back in South Africa.”

As leaders, we are aware that we cannot lead our group any further into the Father’s heart than we have been ourselves. Serving together as a couple has taught us a lot, but above all, we serve in awe, knowing that it is but grace. God is faithful. He has answered our prayers for this group, as one MSGer’s shared, “I experience my faith being revived and I feel the goodness of God through the people in this community. I am encouraged to draw closer to God and to serve the people around me with my gifts and talents.”

CHILDREN MINISTRY

Over this year, God has revealed Himself in personal ways to over 180 young lives on a weekly basis through our children’s ministry, Kidz for Christ (K4C). It is through the grace of God, the prayers of our church family, and the service of our dedicated volunteers that lives continue to be changed for eternity.

One story comes from a dear sister in Christ struggling with an unwanted pregnancy. This sister had many reasons to reject the new life that was growing in her. Yet, over the course of numerous pastoral sessions, prayer times together, and casual conversations about life as a new parent, this lovely lady saw her pregnancy through to the birth of a beautiful son. God is good and his mercies endure forever. We can only imagine what God has in store for this little bundle of joy!

Another story comes from a ten-year-old boy who returned to Vacation Bible School (VBS) this past summer for the third consecutive year. The fact that he is a returning attendee is not so unusual (many of our VBSers are returnees after their first year). What makes this young boy unique is that he comes to our VBS each year all the way from Italy. His parents live separately – dad and son living in Italy, and mum living in Hong Kong. In the summer of 2022, his mum randomly signed him up for VBS. He learned that God loves him, and craves a personal and intimate relationship with Him. At the closing ceremony of VBS 2024, this young pre-teen prayed a closing prayer where he asked God to reveal his desire for a personal relationship with each and every person. As 10 years is the cap age for joining VBS, this amazing young man asked if he could return next year as a leader so that he could tell others about how God craves a personal relationship with them.

ARISE COMMUNITY

ARISE is our refugee and asylum seeker community. Our aim is to encourage our members to grow in three primary areas of discipleship based on the Great Commandment: to love God, to love ourselves, and to love our neighbours (Matthew 22:37-38).  ARISE is growing in their understanding that when we focus on our relationship with our Heavenly Father and understand who we are in Christ we can all make a difference in people’s lives.  Earlier this year, Elena, a recent PhD graduate from CUHK was conducting post-graduation research by interviewing Branches Of Hope refugee and asylum seeker clients on their medical needs and their experience receiving medical assistance in Hong Kong.  After interviewing about 80 clients, many of whom are also members of the ARISE community, she observed that those who attend ARISE had a level of hope that she did not see in the rest.

“We have been conducting 80 interviews so far and I would like to thank you and Branches of Hope for helping with recruitment.  Also, I would like to share a bit about some emerging findings. Despite their challenges and constraints, I found several community members engage in daily practices of hope, creating a life worth living despite the suffering they face.  I would like to explore "hope" more and understand better what it means to hope for them. Beyond victimisation but also aware of their constraints, I think hope can capture their lives within and beyond the immobility the refugee condition in HK imposes on them.  If you and the pastor think it is appropriate and feasible, I would be very happy to join some of fellowship times so as to get a more nuanced understanding of their lives.”

We thank the Lord for doing such a work within our community that allowed Elena to see Him in us.  All glory to Jesus.

OASIS, HONG KONG CENTRE FOR COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY

We are overjoyed to see that Oasis has supported over 200 clients this year – including individuals, couples, and families – and that over 700 hours have been spent with pro-bono/low fee-paying clients. While it has been rewarding to walk with all our clients, there is something extra fulfilling in being able to offer psych-emotional support to the marginalized and vulnerable within our community and city, many of whom may otherwise not have access to mental health services.

During the year, we have been intentional about monthly ‘team time’, during which one of our team members would share about their specialization or professional knowledge, typically followed by a time of group supervision. We also implemented both quarterly prayer & worship evenings – where we’d pray for each other, Oasis clients and the office to be filled with the presence of God – and two dedicated team training evenings. These times together were invaluable in building a culture of trust, collaboration, and excellence, as well as providing wellness for our counsellors. The Oasis team has grown this year by adding one new partner, who increases our number of counsellors able to practice in Cantonese

We have continued our partnership with The Vine Church’s community groups in developing and facilitating a social skills course; which has run twice this year. This group was birthed out of a strong sense that being a Christian involves finding a place within the body of Christ. We noticed that some people within The Vine Church find it difficult to plug into a community group. Therefore, the GROW course was designed to support this group of people. Oasis has also developed and facilitated three, two-part Suicide Awareness trainings to further equip the body of Christ.

Oasis has worked with four students this year, an expression of our commitment to contribute to the training of skilled mental health professionals to serve our city.  We have also contributed in the RESTore conference, held in Hong Kong, and the global Mental Health Church Summit.

JUSTICE & MISSIONS STATISTICS AND PARTNERSHIPS

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

Focusing on intimacy, our activities this year aimed to deepen our understanding of God’s heart for the vulnerable and marginalised, and to take this knowledge and inspiration into action.  We have partnered with various organisations and individuals to provide platforms to share and learn together.

“My heart was stirred hearing from people who are passionate about justice and missions. I realise I could do so much more outside my normal job. This got me to learn more about Anti-Human Trafficking. It opened volunteer opportunities which opened my eyes to the brokenness! I eventually joined a mission trip and was inspired by the work with local authorities and their dependence and trust on God through daily prayer. I still have a lot to understand, and God is my biggest motivation to expand my knowledge and respond with my God given talent.”
- Denise

Through the church body’s generosity, over HK$1.5 million went into supporting different civic programmes in the city and overseas. Our partnerships with different ministries and non-profit organisations gave towards different issues such as Anti-Human Trafficking, Economic Empowerment and Childhood Development.

Funds went towards the following:

  • Aftercare of victims of Forced Labour Slavery and Prostitution.
  • Crisis intervention of children born to migrant mothers through essential supplies medical support or emergency shelter
  • Establishing an integrated client services programme for victims of abuse, exploitation and discrimination
  • Ministering in various vulnerable and migrant communities through hope and encouragement from the gospel

Finance

2024 was a year of deepening intimacy with God, and for many of us this meant examining our lives, spiritual practices, and priorities. Perhaps as a fruit of this, the disciplines of tithing and generosity were on full display this year as many of our congregation gave sacrificially to our work in Wan Chai and Yuen Long.

Our full year church income for Wan Chai was $55.4M, and for Yuen Long $2.9M. In total this is a 15% increase on the previous year and reflects a healthy rebuilding of our Wan Chai congregation, as well as strong support for our Yuen Long church plant, which is now in its second year. In March 2024 we had our annual Vision Sunday, during which we received an outpouring of over $12.5M towards our future vision!

We finish the financial year with a surplus of $9.1M, which allows us to further support Yuen Long as this new church plant becomes established, as well as to invest into future River initiatives. We utilised some of our reserves this year to invest into our Wan Chai kitchen and meeting rooms, and to refresh the outside of the VC2 building.

If you’re new to the Vine, you might be wondering how to contribute to such a large church. May we humbly ask you to consider giving a regular tithe as part of your weekly worship? Time and again we have found that it is the consistent and faithful giving of the many that allows us to resource our calling to the people of Hong Kong.

On behalf of The Vine staff and leadership, we praise God for your kind generosity and faithful giving to The Vine Church this year. May we all continue to partner with our Lord as He leads us forward in Wan Chai, Yuen Long and beyond!

Closing

Throughout 2024, The Vine Church had a strong call to focus on our intimacy with Jesus. We have continuously straddled the tension of slowing down to pursue intimacy amid growing our faith and works to further God’s kingdom by serving those that God has entrusted to us. Be it the vulnerable in our city, our children and youth, those suffering physically and mentally, and being able to respond with compassion and hope to those around us. The intimacy call for The Vine Church remains; we seek God and we put God first, trusting His leading and guiding as we partner with Him to see lives transformed and a city changed. Therefore, we enter 2025 with a renewed sense of expectation and excitement for what He will do for us, in us, and through us.
